Albert Hien

Albert Hien is a German artist born in Munich in 1956. His artistic output primarily spans Sculpture, Installation, and the use of Neon (Light Art).

His work is often characterized by a peculiar fusion of historical references and contemporary interpretations, particularly exploring themes related to technological progress and its perception, often through an ironic or absurdist lens. In his installations and sculptures, Hien creates visual metaphors where everyday objects or references to modernity and antiquity are juxtaposed unexpectedly (for instance, ships sinking into the ground or technical elements transforming into Roman temples). This places him within the realm of Contemporary Art, with works that have a strong component of Poetic Sculpture and that utilize materials like neon for its evanescent character and the possibility of detaching signs from the surface to recombine them as sculpture.
