HAKUNA MATATA
Neonsystem and wood cm 33 x 23.5 x 10 (inch 12.99 x 9.25 x 3.94),
The work "HAKUNA MATATA" is a light installation by Albert Hien that embodies his interest in language and popular aesthetics. The famous Swahili phrase, meaning "no worries," is spelled out in four rows of neon tubes that tightly fill the space. The artist uses a rich palette of neon colours that continuously shift (from orange, to blue, red, yellow, and violet) to give the piece a joyous and carefree energy. The letters are broken down and assembled dynamically, creating a vibrant chromatic weave. Measuring 33×23.5×10 cm, the work is a small yet powerful luminous object, a visual reminder that fuses a pop culture message with conceptual art.
