Pietro Bellani
Pietro Bellani born in Licciana Nardi (MS) in 1944; based in La Spezia.
Pietro Bellani began his artistic career in 1960, primarily focusing on visual arts. A key figure in the cultural scene of La Spezia, he joined the “Lionello Venturi” group in 1961. During the early 1960s, his creative drive led him to explore experimental photography and animated cinema, designing small-gauge films, alongside his work in theatrical set design.
His professional journey is marked by significant memberships and international stays: he was a member of the Promotrice di Belle Arti in Turin and, in 1964, co-founded the Arte Grottesca group (Pisa-Milan). In 1965, he moved to Paris, where he refined his artistic language by frequenting renowned studios, including that of the abstract artist Folmer.
Bellani’s stylistic evolution moved from a figurative phase, which lasted until the mid-1980s, to a decisive shift toward abstract art, the hallmark of his more recent work. The artist has gained significant international acclaim in Germany — exhibiting in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich — where he opened a professional studio in the 1990s.
