Paolo Maggis

Paolo Maggis is an Italian artist, born in Milan on December 29, 1978. After studying painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan (1996–2000), he lived in Berlin for a few years before settling in Barcelona, where he currently resides and works. Maggis is primarily known for his painting, characterized by a strongly expressive and visceral language. He uses gestural brushstrokes and color layering on large canvases to move beyond formal correctness, often approaching abstraction. His works, frequently inspired by media images, investigate the complex relationship between painting and contemporary reality, carrying an intense emotional charge aimed at deeply affecting the viewer.
