PER ASPERA
Neonsystem and neon cm 37.5 x 21 x 10 (inch 14.76×8.27×3.94)
Albert Hien's work "PER ASPERA" is a vertical light installation that evokes the first part of the famous Latin phrase ("Per aspera ad astra" - through hardship to the stars). The phrase is arranged in four rows of neon letters, vertically oriented. The artist continues his exploration of binary contrast. This alternation and the fragmentation of the words suggest the concept of "hardship" (aspera) as an interrupted yet necessary path.
